2024 Current Hay Availability

ORGANIC HAY: We’ve got 4 lots of organic hay available. Full test results available for all hay from Dairyland Labs. Please email for a copy of the relevant results. All Bales are 4x5 round bales weighing between 750lb-900lb

  • Alfalfa-Grass mix 1st Cutting 10% Protein. New seeding with mix of annual grasses present. Some thistle in spots. Baled and wrapped at 20% moisture. Presents like dry hay but soft on the palate like baleage. 60 bales available.

  • Alfalfa-Grass mix, 2nd cutting. 14% Protein. Some annual grasses present. Has been fed to cattle and sheep and all responded well. 30 bales available. Wrapped after curing for storage. Not suitable for horses due to foxtail.

  • SOLD Alfalfa-Grass mix. 3rd cutting. 14% protein. Established organic field. Good balance of grass and alfalfa and no weeds. Baled dry and barn stored.

  • Oat-Pea-Barley Baleage. 10% protein. Cover crop from neighboring certified organic farm. Can be sold as organic or non-organic. Has been fed to horses and sheep. Both fed heavy without sorting.

TRANSITIONAL ORGANIC:

  • SOLD Alfalfa-Grass mix 2nd cutting. 14% protein. Annual grass seed is present in mix. Fine stemmed and early bloom alfalfa. Great mix for cattle and horse.

STRAW: We’ve got 3 lots of straw available. All are baled from Kernza (a perennial small grain) and in 4x5 rounds weighing around 700lbs. All straw bales are $35/bale

  • 20 bales put up right behind the combine.

  • 20 10 bales from some regrowth and cutting the stubble short. made about a 50-50 mix of straw and new growth. Really good option for horses that have a tendency to eat too much or cattle needing roughage.

  • 9 5 bales of standing grain that didn't get threshed. Most of the seed heads came off from the haybine but there is still some mixed in. Great option for pigs or goats that will root through the bale.

Delivery

Delivery available in the Northfield Area for customers able to receive and unload a hay wagon. A delivery fee is charged based on distance and accessibility. Customers may also pick-up at the farm by appointment.
